Dr. Pei-Ling Hsu joined Chat@UVic on September 2005 to work towards her PhD in Educational Studies. Pei-Ling holds a B.A. (earth science) and a M.Sc.(science education) from National Taiwan Normal University and worked as a high school teacher in Taiwan. Her doctoral research focuses on high school students' internship in science labortories and is related to the CRYSTAL project. She completed her PhD in 2008 and currently works as a post-doctoral fellow.

Gholamreza Emad came from Iran on September 2005 to participate at Chat@UVic. He holds a BSc in Nautical science and also Watchkeeping Certificate of competency for oceangoing ships from Iran. He had worked on board oceangoing merchant ships as an officer for some years. Emad also received a MSc in Maritime Education and Training from World Maritime University in Sweden. He has worked as a university lecturer, teaching Nautical Science for the last 12 years. For his PhD, Emad is interested in the advancements in the field of education in maritime science.

Jean François Maheux joined Chat@UVic as a PhD student in August 2007, coming from the Université du Quebec à Montréal (UQAM), where he completed his Master program. Jean-Francois works with mathematics education and is now interested in the question of ethics in people's transactions. He examines for example teachers and students or researchers and teachers in teaching, learning and researching mathematics education. In this, he gives a particular attention to the role of the body, while connecting with broader issues such as social justice.

Dr. Huai-Rhin Kim joined Chat@UVic as a post-doctoral fellow on September 2008, coming from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she purpused her B.A. (Linguistics), M.A. (Teaching English as an International Language), and Ph.D. (Speech and Hearing Science). Her research interests are valid assessment for narrative writing.
