cases
update: 07-22-2007
Sample Cases Two exemplary applications are now available. These cases are based on actual proposals that have passed through the Human Research Ethics Committee. The materials have been anonymized; they have been released by HREC. We wish to acknowledge the contributions of Rena Sweeney and Natalie Robinson whose applications respectively served as the models for the Ava Garden and James Jamison (pseudonyms) applications.
The ethics review is a process associated with a lot of uncertainty because the same proposal may be evaluated rather differently. To gain some insights into the vagaries of ethics review follow this link, which takes you to a journal article that explicates and theorizes why ethics review, as peer review generally, is far from a perfect process fraught with problems.
