Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is for students to be able to use the internet as an effective tool to

enhance classroom learning. This will be achieved by students developing skills in internet

research, communication, and publishing, and being able to apply these skills to the learning

environment.

Assignments

There are three types of assignments for this course: group publishing, individual reflections on

articles and issues, and individual or group contributions to the class and field. Assignment schedule.

1. Group Publishing - To demonstrate an understanding of how to use a variety of internet tools by

creatively and strategically using them to design an internet learning resource.

2. Individual Responses and Reflections - A chance for reflective analysis of the use of the internet as

a learning technology: How and why should the technology be used in the classroom? What role

should information technologies play in learning? What unique teaching opportunities and

constraints does the internet offer?

3. Individual Contributions to the Class and Field - From a student and instructor list of questions and

tasks students choose the ones that suit their interests. Each response will be handed in as a

webpage with supporting internet links. The responses will be added to the class website.

The instructor will also keep a skills checklist. All students will be expected to demonstrate the skills and tasks on the checklist.
