Media Awareness

To participate and make informed decisions in today's world, a global citizen requires technological and information literacy skills that include the ability to gather, process, and manipulate data. The goal of this web site is to provide a list of resources to teachers and parents on media. The sites are a good source of information for topics such as censorship, TV, advertisements, and music.

The links that follow contain information, statistics, reports, surveys, and more.

  • Children and Media: This site provides information on TV diversity, the V-Chip (FAQ), an annotated list of reports that Children Now has done, and a free video (that can be viewed on-line or ordered) on the TV rating system.
  • Media Research and Reports: This site provides an annotated list of reports, surveys, and research on Children, TV, and the Media.
  • Media Beat: This site is the home page for Media Beat, a weekly syndicated column on media and politics by Norman Solomon. It provides links to past columns.
