This Web Site was created in order to give teachers some links for Educational Projects Online.  There are many, many projects available out there to choose from.  I've supplied five links to different sites that offer a variety of online projects.  Included as well is rating scale based on  *****, as well as come comments as to why I gave the rating I did.  If you're really interested in online projects, you might like to join one of the list servs I have provided in order to receive updated information on a regular basis.  As well, because I think that it is one of the major reasons one might decide to participate in an online project is a link to the Center for Critical Thinking which has many more ideas for developing critical thinking in your students.

Computer Pals Around the World (CPAW)
CPAW is a non profit global educational electronic network with a presence in over  20 countries. They provide an online calendar of global projects from which members can choose. (Note that there is a fee to become a member of this organization.)

Comments:  Interesting and useful project ideas, but it is a major disadvantage that there is a fee to join.

     EduWeb: Projects
If you are looking for an Internet project partner outside of North America, be sure to check out EduWeb - there is a decidedly European flavour to the projects that are posted on their site. EduWeb is hosted by a U.K. internet service provider and provides search capabilities by grade and/or subject areas. They check all projects before they are posted for educational suitability and, as project start dates are passed, notices are removed from the database.

Comments:  Tonnes of ideas!  Particularly useful is the searchable component for finding suitable projects.

Global SchoolNet Foundation: Internet Projects Registry
If you're looking for an Internet project for your students, this site is a good place to start. It contains information about GSN projects as well as those from many other organizations as well. Project information is organized by the month in which it is scheduled to start.
Rating of Site:***1/2
Comments:  Lots of projects sorted by age and subject.  Searchable.  Identifies those projects that cost money.

    Grassroots Program
If you have an idea for an Internet classroom project, Canadian teachers may submit project proposals to the GrassRoots Program for funding ($300). To be eligible, your classroom project will need to use Internet resources for educational purposes and be open to participation by other classes/students. Or, search this site to find Canadian projects to join or just browse through the project descriptions to learn more about what can be done with an Internet project. This program is operated by SchoolNet Canada in co-operation with provincial and corporate sponsors.

Comments:  CANADIAN!  Great that you can apply for funding.  Searchable projects are really interesting.

Houghton Mifflin's Project Center provides information on a number of classroom projects involving the Internet. Categories of projects include: Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science, and General. This information may be used to either get directly involved in the project or it may be useful in stimulating ideas for your own project.Rating of Site:***1/2
Comments:  Limited to Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Science or General projects.  You can add your own project ideas however.
