Small groups of students (4 to 5) with mixed computer and teaching experience will work together to produce one section of a class internet learning resource. The resource will demonstrate mastery of internet website publishing, integrating a variety of internet tools into its design. It will also show thoughtful pedagogical consideration given to the what and why of the site.
The group will be responsible for all design and content aspects of their websection, including file management and navigation. Each section will have to be coordinated with the others to ensure a coherent class site and resource.
The following is a list of recommended things to have in your websection. More isn't necessarily better. Any tool's use must support the objectives of the section and work well. To some extent these things are a way to 'standardize' each section, to give the whole site more coherency. The list will grow as the course progresses, to incorporate the learning that is going on during the course.
Evaluation
If all of the criteria are met (to be posted), each member of the group will receive an A for their websection. If the criteria are not met, then an incomplete will be give. The way that tasks are divided up depends on the group. It is expected that more advanced members will be tutoring the less experienced and this should be considered when time is being allocated to tasks. If for any reason all members of the groups should not receive the same mark then the instructor should be notified.
