MEDIA: BEWARE!

*Being Media Aware doesn't mean reading a bunch of theories and expert papers.

It's way easier than that!

Just ask yourself:

WHO is telling me WHAT, and WHY?

*Or use this checklist to evaluate what you are experiencing...

Checklist

- Distinguish between fact vs opinion

-Ask yourself if WHAT you are seeing or hearing is how it REALLY is?

-Distinguish between warranted and unwarranted claims.

-Detect the bias: Ask yourself WHO? is telling the story, and WHY? are they telling it. If it were your story would you tell it differently, WHY?

-Consider WHAT? is being said and equally important, consider WHAT? isn't being said and ask yourself WHY?. WHO's story aren't you hearing?

-Consider how strong the argument is, are there any inconsistencies?
