SECONDARY TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS



Two programs are available to students who plan to teach at the secondary level in British Columbia.

SECONDARY BACHELOR OF EDUCATION
A five year program, the first year of which must be completed in another faculty or at another university or college. Only students with Art, Music or Physical Education as a teaching area may apply to this program.

SECONDARY POST DEGREE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM
A 10-12 month program, depending on the selected program option, designed for degree holders and leading to teacher certification in British Columbia. An optional second year is available for students who also wish to complete a Bachelor of Education degree.

TEACHER CERTIFICATION
Each province sets its own regulations for teacher certification. Therefore, questions about certification in other provinces should be directed to the specific province for information. In British Columbia, teaching certificates are issued by the British Columbia College of Teachers. (BCCT)
