Academic Advising

Faculty of Education academic advisers offer advice to current and future students who have specific questions about Faculty of Education courses and programs. The advisers located in the MacLaurin Building will answer your questions about our teacher education programs. The adviser located in the McKinnon Building will answer your questions about the kinesiology and recreation and health education programs.

Teacher Education Advising

If you have questions about our teacher education programs, please come to room A250 in the MacLaurin Building. This office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 - 4:30 PM (excluding statutory holidays). Click here to find out where the MacLaurin Building is located on campus.

Appointments

Advisers meet with students by appointment on Monday afternoon and Friday morning. Call (250) 721-7877 to schedule an appointment.

Drop-in

Advisers are normally available to meet with students on a drop-in basis on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting at 9:00 am in the morning and 1:00 pm in the afternoon.

• Please arrive no later than 11:00 in the morning and no later than 3:00 in the afternoon.
• If you are an out-of-town student, please call (250) 721-7877 before leaving home to confirm that an adviser will be available to speak to you during our normal drop-in sessions.

Telephone and Email

Unable to visit the advising centre in person? Advisers are available to take telephone calls (250-721-7877) and respond to email (adve@uvic.ca). Please call on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday if you would like to speak with an adviser on the telephone. Because it is not always possible for an adviser to answer an email on the day it is sent, please allow up to five working days for a reply.

Kinesiology and Recreation and Health Education Advising

Drop-in

The adviser is available to meet with students on a drop-in basis on Monday and Thursday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. If you are an out-of-town student, please call (250) 721-6554 before leaving home to confirm that the adviser will be available to speak to you when you arrive. If you cannot meet with an adviser on Monday or Thursday, please call to find out if another time can be arranged.
