Bachelor of Education (Elementary Curriculum) – Overview

The Faculty of Education offers a four-year Bachelor of Education (Elementary Curriculum) degree program. Admission to the program requires at least one year of university-level studies. You may take your first year at UVic as a student in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Humanities, Sciences or Social Sciences before applying to the Faculty of Education for year two.

Program Structure

Prior to admission, you will take academic course work related to the subjects taught in BC schools. After you are admitted to the program, you will take professional courses, over three winter sessions, that prepare you to teach. You will have a co-ordinated, sequenced balance of course work, integrated observation and practice teaching experiences.

Fees & Costs

Tuition for this program is based on a per-unit fee. Tuition is based on a per-unit fee which varies from year to year. The 2009 rate is $311.50 per unit. You will take 18.0 units in year two (311.50 X 18.0 = $5607). Student Society and athletics and recreation fees, etc. are extra as are books. Additional costs will include miscellaneous fees (athletic and student society fees, bus pass, etc), books, room and board, practicum travel and other living expenses.
