Testimonials
“ I’ve really, really enjoyed my entire graduate school experience. I have two kids and a full time job and I was worried about finding the life-study balance. But because I’m really engaged in the course, it has felt easier to put in the time than I experienced.” (Meghan Day, Manager of Action Schools BC Healthy Eating and Faculty of Education Master’s Student. (Student of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education).
“I wanted to get into education because you have a role in people's lives. As a teacher you can build relationships with your students as well as parents and staff members. In teaching there may be days when you take your work home with you mentally…but at the end of the day, it's one of the few professions that actually makes a difference in this world."
"I love UVic. I also work on campus which has been awesome. I feel like UVIC is always trying to improve and is not stuck in the past. I had a really good experience at UVic as a whole."
"To be honest, if I had one piece of advice for new students, it's that perfectionists don't do well in the education program and you have to do the best you can and stay positive. The education program is intense and trains you to become a great, well-rounded teacher. However, don't stress out about the bumps along the way because in the end, you will do it and look back and say to yourself, "What was I so stressed out about?" Julie Piazza, recent graduate
“Before entering the PDPP Elementary Teaching program at UVic I received a BA in psychology and a minor in English from UVic. I chose to stay at UVic to do the education program because it is very well respected around the Country and offers more opportunities for practice than most other programs from other universities. The teachers at UVic have proved to be great mentors in and out of the classroom setting. Small classes allows you to get to know your fellow students and build connections for the future. In the future I hope to pursue a career within the Victoria area teaching elementary grades. Having a 5-week practicum in April and a 4-month practicum in September allows me to get into different schools, work with different teachers and grades, and get to know people within the school community.” (Jamie McCance, recent graduate)
