Compressing Files
Before we delve into the world of compressing and decompressing files, you have probably become aware of some of the file extensions used in the world of computing. For example, ".doc" is called an extension, which informs computers what type of file it is and what program to use to open the file. In this case, ".doc" is a word processing file, whereas ".xls" is an Excel spreadsheet file. Some compressed files, also known as "archives," are .zip or .sit files, but there are many more file types. To find out a type of file by its extension, you can access one of the following two websites. Search by the extension string.

Click on the link below for the program you will be using to compress files to learn how to complete this requirement.
Once you have compressed your group of files, please return to the assignment section of the Internet I module page to review your requirements.
