Lines and Arrows
For your assignment, you are asked to insert a line then format it to include arrows at
each end, a dash style, a heavier line, and a colour. You will insert this in the
"XXXdraw.doc" file you have been using in previous lessons. To do this,
- Go to your drawing toolbar and select either the Line button
or the Arrow
button
.
- Either way, you will have to format the line to have two arrow heads. Your pointer will
turn into a plus sign (+) again, meaning that it is read to draw.
- Click and drag across your document to create a line. To create a straight line,
hold the Shift button down while you drag.
- Make sure the line is selected before formatting. You will see the "handles"
at each end when it is selected. You can drag these handles to lengthen or shorten a
line if you need to.
- Click on the "Arrow Style" button on the Drawing toolbar. This button
will look like the following:

- Select a two-headed arrow for your arrow style.
- With your line still selected, click on the "Dash" style button, which looks
like:
- Select a dash style of your choice.
- Next, click on the "Line Style" button, which looks like:
- Select a line style that is 3pt or heavier.
- Last, but not least, change the colour of your double-headed arrow. Make sure your
line is selected, then click on the "Line Colour" button, which looks like:
In this
image of the button, the colour is supposed to be in the horizontal rectangle at the
bottom of the brush. The line style is set to no-line, so by applying this line
colour, your line will disappear. To apply a colour to the line, click on the arrow
to the right of this button to select the drop-down menu of colour choices. Select a
colour of your choice to apply the colour to your line.
- Save your changes.
