Find and Replace

There may be a time when you are near the end of writing a paper when you realize you have spelled the name of a town incorrectly.  Since this is a proper noun, spellcheck will not catch the mistake.  The "Find and Replace" feature will allow you to search for and replace this text with the word that it spelled correctly.

Since this is now Level Two, you will be expected to work a bit more independently to find out how to use some of these features.  Take advantage of your mouse button and click away to explore the menus and commands available to you.  Use the Help menu and search the contents for the topic you are looking for.  Finally, post to the listserv or email the coordinator if you have any questions.

For your assignment, you are asked to download this word document and use the find/replace feature to change the word Viktoria to Victoria, wherever it occurs in the document text.  Use "Save As" to save your changes and rename the document "XXXvic."  You will need to compress and submit this document as part of an archive, which you learned about in the Internet II module.

You can use the find and replace feature to search for and replace specific formatting (i.e., find "Victoria" and replace with "Victoria") and special items such as paragraph marks, fields, or graphics. You can also search for and replace all forms of a word (for example, replace "make" with "build" as well as "made" with "built"). To fine-tune a search, you can use wildcards (for example, search for "s?t" to find "sat" or "set").
