Setting permissions for your Netlink ID folder
You will have to set the permissions for your NetLink ID folder to allow visitors to
see your pages. You will need to go one folder (or "level") higher than your
Netlink ID folder to change the permissions.
- Make note of what folders your space is stored in (i.e., home1/93/ but yours may be
different) in case you move one level too far in the folders.
- Double-click on the green arrow (shown circled above) to move up one level.
- It may take a few minutes for your computer to display all of the Netlink ID folders,
since there are a lot of students at UVic.

- Find your folder and click on it once to select it.
- Right-click to get the following menu, then select "chmod(UNIX)"

- The following pop-up window will appear:

- Set permissions for your Netlink ID folder as shown above, which is:
- Owner (i.e., you): Read, Write, Execute
- Group/Everyone (i.e., the people who visit your site): Execute
- Click OK.
- You need to set the permissions for your Netlink ID folder only once.
