There are a variety of student associations and student services across campus to assist you in your day-to-day life in the Faculty of Education and at UVic.
Education Students’ Association (EdSA)
EDSA is an executive commitee run BY students FOR students. Each year an executive body and representatives from each area of the Education program are elected to take on the following: Represent the Education student body,organize workshops for professional development, organize social activities, promote the professional sharing of resources and ideas, provide student representation in faculty committees, act as a liaison and communicator between faculty and the student body. Association of Graduate Education Studies (AGES)
AGES was instituted in 1998 by a group of Graduate students who believed in the need for creating a community within the Faculty of Education at UVic. It is a registered association with principles and beliefs to promote and support students' participation and involvement in academic activities.
Every graduate student at the Faculty of Education is a member of AGES. You are more than welcome to participate in all the events promoted by AGES. Go to the AGES website»
University of Victoria Students’ Society
As an undergraduate student at UVic, you are a member the University of Victoria Students’ Society (UVSS). The Students’ Society advocates on behalf of students on important issues such as increasing accessibility to education, racism, affordable public transportation and environmental sustainability. The Students’ Society also provides services like the Universal Bus Pass (UPass), administers clubs and course unions, organises on campus events and operates many of the services and businesses in the Student Union Building (SUB).Go to the UVSS website»
Native Students Union
The NSU works towards empowering students to benefit from the technical and academic learning at UVIC while providing an outlet to maintain strong cultural and spiritual ties with other Aboriginal, Metis, Status & Non-status and Inuit students and our communities. Graduate Students’ Society
The GSS represents the interests of 2400-plus graduate students at UVic and serves as an advocacy and lobby group for its members within the University of Victoria, as well as speaking on behalf of its membership to issues of concern at the university and the larger community. As a member of the Canadian Federation of Students, we also have a voice on the largest national student body that lobbies for student issues. Got to the GSS website»
