The University of Victoria offers
a program of studies leading to the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Music Education.
The degree is a career credential intended for students who wish to develop
a broader understanding of music education and to hone their competencies
in teaching music education at the elementary, secondary, and college levels.
The summer coursese are offered at the University of Victoria on weekdays and usually begin immediately after the Canada Day weekend (approximately July 3) and run until the end of summer session (approximately Aug. 20).

PROJECT & COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION
Within the 15-unit program, students will undertake a major study related to
music in the schools. Practical and innovative topics which will extend the
body of materials and/or knowledge in a specific area are expected. Evaluation
of the project is the responsibility of the students Project Supervisor and the instructor of EDCI 598B.
The comprehensive examination is written at or near the completion of all other
degree requirements. It includes questions related to the project and other
major aspects of the program.
