Research Interests

- Developing domain theories of learning and growth in mathematics education

- examining the efficacy of instructional interventions in mathematics education

- increasing learner participation and promoting discussion with a classroom interaction system (CIS)

- promoting learner engagement in mathematics through authentic activities and integrated content

- examining the relative accuracy of the Rasch and Item Response Theory (IRT) measurement models as underlying assumptions are challenged

- developing and validating computer adaptive tests in mathematics, science and computer science

- meeting individual learners' needs according to their learning styles, learning orientations and levels of understanding

- transforming traditional quality linear presentations into learner centred hypermedia presentations using the Enhanced Instructional Presentation (EIP) model.

-exploring and assessing intuitive understandings and misunderstandings associated with promotional contest and gambling.

-developing and testing interventions to increase mastery of probability and chance, and examining problem gambling assessment instruments.
