| As a member of the Counselling section, I teach courses
in the areas of life-career planning, counselling skills
and counselling methods, child and adolescent
counselling, and qualitative research. I work primarily
with those who wish to be counsellors in the community
and in schools and with graduate students. With my
background in elementary teaching, my counselling
practice has focused primarily on children and
adolescents and their families. I am a Canadian Certified
Counsellor (CCC) and I am also working towards my
registration as a Psychologist in BC. My current research interests include child and youth mental health and decision-making, rural youth, identity development and self constructions of youth, possible selves, life-career development, counsellor education, and qualitative methods and issues. I am involved with two research centres on campus: Centre for Youth and Society and Centre for Addictions Research of BC. Professional interests involve serving on the executive of the Career Development Chapter of CCA, working on the committee for counsellor certification for the proposed College of Counsellor Therapists of BC. If you would like to learn more about my work, you can contact me in the MacLaurin Building, Room A 470 or you can contact me via the following:
