Choices

Thank-you for examining our "killer tomato" case study. We sincerely hope that you are on the road to becoming a critical thinker about products on the market: where they come from, what has gone on in the process of growing or manufacturing them, and who is involved and effected.

Congratulations on gaining a new perspective on how the "simple" act of purchasing products can effect our global environment.

We make choices every single day of our lives. How can we become increasingly responsible global citizens if we are informed of the impacts our choices have on our environment.

Dare to take on this challenge...

1. Choose a product you can purchase at any store. (Hint: look through flyers for ideas.)

2. Trace the steps of this product, just like what was done in "The Attack of the Killer Tomato". From the land and raw materials, to the finished on the shelf product, and everything in between and connected along the way.

3. Start with a web, and work towards writing a complete article.

4. Create a fun title for your article.

It is always a good idea to balance the negative with the positive. Be prepared to discuss your article with the class, as well as some solutions or alternatives to purchasing this product, or positive actions to overcome the negative impacts.
