Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun, named after the Roman god of the sea. It is a ringed gas planet with dark storms, giant hurricanes, and streaky clouds of methane ice that float thirty five miles above the lower deck. The Voyager 2 found that Neptune has two bright outer rings, the inner ring is fainter while the outer is composed of dusty material.

Neptune is 30 times the Earth's distance from the sun. It takes nearly 165 Earth years to complete each solar orbit. Yet a day on Neptune lasts only about 16 hours. You could fit 57 Earth's into Neptune, and its diameter is four times greater than the Earth's. Neptune is denser than Uranus, but bulk-for-bulk far lighter than Earth. Neptune would be just one-fifth as heavy as on Earth.
