Students will:

Grade 4

-use a variety of software to solve problems

-retrieve data from a variety of information technology sources

 

Grade 5

-access on-line resources using telecommunications tools

-demonstrate a willingness to be self-reliant when using information technology tools

 

Grade 6

-gather information from available resources to solve problems using information technology tools

-apply troubleshooting strategies when using information technology tools

 

Math

Students will:

Grade 4

-identify and explain mathematical relationships and patterns through the use of grids, tables, charts or calculators

-demonstrate and describe the process of addition and subtraction of numbers

-demonstrate an understanding of the addition and subtraction of decimal fractions

 

Grade 5

-compare and order whole numbers

-use a variety of methods to collect and record data

-discuss the reasonableness of the data and the results

 

Grade 6

-display data by hand or by computer in a variety of ways including: histograms and graphs

-analyse sets of data to make comparisons and test predictions

-formulate a key question from a problem solving context

 

Science

Students will:

Grade 4

-predict the results of an experiment

-perform an experiment by following a procedure

-construct simple definitions based on their experiment

 

Grade 5

-identify and test a prediction

-use appropriate technology to record, measure, save and retrieve data

-identify relevant variables in an experiment

 

Grade 6

-identify the human and technology requirements for space exploration

-describe the primary features of our solar system

-list the contributions that space exploration has made to everyday life

 

Social Studies

Students will:

Grade 4

-develop alternative interpretations from specific historical and contemporary sources

-organise information into a presentation with a main idea and supporting details

-describe technology used in exploration

 

Grade 5

-gather and record a body of information from a variety of primary and secondary sources

-use outlines to organise information into coherent presentations

-develop alternative interpretations from varied sources

 

Grade 6

-demonstrate an ability to research information using current technology

-evaluate the credibility and reliability of varied sources

-organise information from a variety of sources into a structured presentation using more than one form of representation.
