How Decisions Will Be Made

What Happens Next: how the decisions will be made

BEd Secondary Physical Education Teaching Area Program

Your weighted scores for the variables below will be summated and placed in rank order with other applicants. Cut off points for acceptance are determined each year based on the quota of students admitted to the programs. The weighting for the different sections is as follows:

70% Grade Point Average** (G.P.A.) + 30% Interview = 100% Total Score

BSc Kinesiology Programs

Applicants for all the Kinesiology programs who have completed the prerequisites will be accepted on the basis of their grade point averages (described below) until the quota for the program is filled. NOTE: Interviews will be conducted for Kinesiology applicants applying for the Cooperative Education program, but NO interviews will be conducted for applicants to the Major Kinesiology program. Normally, applicants are ranked from highest to lowest G.P.A. Achieving the minimum G.P.A. for the program does not ensure acceptance.

BA Recreation and Health Education Co-operative Education Program

Applicants for the BA Recreation and Health Education Cooperative Education program who have completed the prerequisites and an interview will be accepted on the basis of their grade point averages (described below) until the quota for the program is filled. Normally, applicants are ranked from highest to lowest G.P.A. Achieving the minimum G.P.A. for the program does not ensure acceptance.

**Grade Point Average (G.P.A.)

Your grade point average (G.P.A.) is an important part of the selection procedures. It is based on your most recently completed session of university or college courses and must consist of a minimum of 12 units. If you are currently registered in 12 or more units of university course work, the grade point average you achieve upon completion of these courses will be used for selection.

All requirements for admission must be completed by April 30 and documented by May 31.

If you are currently registered in less than 12 units, the G.P.A. will be determined by using a combination of the G.P.A. you achieve upon completion of the current courses and the G.P.A. from all of the courses in your previous session applied to the number of units required to reach the 12 unit minimum.

Example calculation: Selection G.P.A.= 4.40 ( 52.75 divided by 12 units)

 Current Session G.P.A.
=
4.50
x
9.5 registered units
=
42.75
Previous Session G.P.A. (whole session)

Final G.P.A.
