departments of Curriculum & Instruction, Educational
Psychology and Leadership and the School of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education
as well as a
graduate-level professional specialization Certificate in School Management and Leadership (CSML) and Community-based
Masters degrees in
Counseling, Curriculum Studies, Early Childhood Education and Leadership
Studies.
Elementary Teacher Education
This is a five-year program leading to teacher certification and a Bachelor of Education degree. Inital admission may be granted only after completion of at least two years of university-level studies acceptable to the Faculty of Education.
This is a sixteen-month (consecutive) program leading to teacher certification and a Bachelor of Education degree. This program is designed for degree holders who now want to become an elementary school teacher in British Columbia.
Secondary Teacher Education
A five year program, the first year of which must be completed in another faculty or another university or college. Only students with Art, Music or Physical Education as a teaching area may apply to this program
A 10-12 month program, depending on the selected program option, designed for degree holders and leading to teacher certification in British Columbia. An optional second year is available for students who also wish to complete a Bachelor of Education degree.

Community-based Graduate Programs
The Faculty of Education currently offers Community-based Masters Degree Programs in Counselling, Curriculum Studies, Early Childhood Education, and Leadership Studies, to cohorts of professionals in education and other fields.
Continuing Studies in Education
Continuing Studies in
Education (CSIE), in collaboration with the Faculty of Education
at the University of Victoria, assesses needs, designs, delivers,
and evaluates both credit and non-credit programs, courses, and
workshops for educators.

Teacher Certification
Each province sets its own regulations for teacher certification, therefore, if you have questions regarding certification in another province, please contact that province for information. In British Columbia, teaching certificates are issued by the British Columbia College of Teachers (BCCT).
